Are there any Grants available to get Solar Panels in the UK ?

The UK Government has made available a number of grants and schemes to help lower income Home Owners and People who are renting their homes - to enable them to make improvements in the energy efficiency of their homes.

Solar Panels may form part of a package which would be available to you, in fact some grants such as the EC04 scheme, even provide free Solar Panels to eligible households.

As of October 2024 - the following grants are available:

• Energy Company Obligation 4 (ECO4)
• Solar Together
• Warm Homes Nest Scheme (Wales)
• Home Upgrade Scheme (HUG2)

Energy Company Obligation 4 (ECO4)

Eligibility - If you receive benefits such as Universal Credit

How Much Could You Get? - Up to 100% of the costs

Who Provides The Grant? - UK government

Ofgem are responsible for managing the Goverments EC04 scheme.

Solar Together

Eligibility - Solar Together is open to everybody

How Much Could You Get? - You could potentially end up paying out 30-35% less than the average cost of a solar system

Who Provides The Grant? - UK government

Various Local Councils participate in the 'Solar Together' scheme.

Warm Homes Nest Scheme (Wales)

Eligibility - Low-income households or the Recipients of means-tested benefits

How Much Could You Get? - Up to 100% of the costs

Who Provides The Grant? - Welsh government

Home Upgrade Scheme (HUG2)

Eligibility - Recipients of certain benefits such as Universal Credit / or low-income households

How Much Could You Get? - Up to £18,000
